Wisdom is the principle thing, therefor get wisdom; And with all thy getting, get understanding; Exalt her and she shall promote thee; She shall bring thee to honour when thou dost embrace her; She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.

APOLOGIES

I sent out an e-mail Thursday 17th September  containing a link to this page, in the promise that you could have an early viewing of the City’s Climate Change Action Plan… and for the lucky 72 of that visited before 4 o’clock this was no lie.

Unfortunately I’ve since had to remove the document.  All though the information it contained was neither secret or in any way sensitive,  it was not meant for public viewing due to its very draft like nature.  Nor indeed was intended for me.  What I should have received as a member of the sustainable consumption working group was the latest version of the sustainable consumption chapter.  So I must ask that if you do now possess a copy,  not to pass it on -  it’s probably out-of-date already.  However, watch this space… Tim

This page I hope will form a depository for most of the information coming out from the Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) meetings.

A brief outline – Manchester is one of a number of cities across the globe (100 to be exact) which are to attend the Climate Change talks at Copenhagen in December.  As such and as a continuation of the process set in place by the Call to Action and the response made by the Call to Real Action, the Council has made a commitment to draw up a Climate Change Action  Plan for the whole City – not just the Council, but for everyone, every business, every school and institution of Manchester.

The formulation of this CCAP has had a lot of direction from the Environment Advisory Panel set up in response to an SNP Forum which asked the Council to more readily make use of the knowledge that Manchester people have on the issue.  So it was decided that we would write the action plan together, council, people and businesses.

There a 5 major themes and for each theme there is a working group pulling all the expertise on the subject from across the City and beyond which meets regularly to discuss the issues and option of each theme.  Each action from the themed groups will be investigated whether it is achievable, how much carbon saving will it achieve etc…

There is also an Engagement and Communications panel meeting to discuss the delivery of the strategy to the City.
